The air in the office was so heavy it felt like breathing underwater. It wasn't just the tension; it was the physical, crushing weight of the Alpha's Command.

Ignatz stood before me, his eyes flashing a dangerous, radioactive amber. He was the Alpha of the Turner Pack, the man I had stripped myself of everything for, the man I had bound my own powers to please.

"Kneel," he said.

It wasn't a request. It was a compulsion hooked directly into my nervous system. Because I was playing the role of a 'Wolfless'-a defective shifter-I had no shield against it.
